SUMMARY:
Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities
A new law requires MBTA-served communities to have at least one zoning district of reasonable size in which multi-family housing (a building designed for 3 or more dwellings) is permitted as of right and meets other criteria set forth in the state statute Section 3A of M.G.L. c. 40A.
The Planning Board will continue their evaluation of areas to be considered in this new zoning district that could support higher density housing. Board members should continue thinking about possible locations. After this meeting staff will try to compile a first draft of potential areas to zone with the comments received from the Planning Board and housing workshop to present a closer look at zoning district boundaries for the December 7 meeting.
Attached are general locations identified by residents that attended the October 25th Housing Workshop.
The Planning Board is working towards zoning compliance. Subscribe to the Planning Board's email notification system here.
